In the previous Asia Cup 2023 group match between India and Pakistan, Pakistani bowlers dismissed four key Indian batters, including Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, and Shreyas Iyer, within the first 10 overs. Despite this setback, India posted a competitive total of 266 runs in their first innings.
Hence, Team India is in a precarious situation as the top-order collapsed in the first match against Pakistan. Moreover, a relatively lackluster bowling and fielding performance against Nepal has raised concerns about their overall performance.
Nonetheless, the middle-order, featuring the likes of Ishan Kishan and vice-captain Hardik Pandya, showed resilience in the game against Pakistan. Additionally, Shubman Gill and skipper Rohit Sharma’s top-order performances against Nepal have reignited hope that India can put up a befitting fight against their arch-rivals.

Weather Forecast and a Reserved Day Solution
The initial group stage encounter between India and Pakistan was marred by rain, leaving fans disappointed. However, officials have indicated that weather conditions in Colombo are likely to improve, ensuring that rain will not disrupt the crucial stages of the tournament.
In this regard, the Asian Cricket Council, Pakistan Cricket Board, and Sri Lanka Cricket Board negotiated to change the venue from Colombo to Hambantota Cricket Stadium. But it was not welcomed by the Indian team. As a result, September 11, is announced as a reserved day to avoid the washout between India and Pakistan. If rain intervenes on 10 September, the play will resume from that very point on the next day.
