First Match of Pakistan against Afghanistan:

Pakistan batted first after winning the toss. This at first put the Pakistan team in a difficult scenario after Fakhar’s early dismissal and Babar’s duck disappointed the fans. While Imam ul Haq’s 61 runs and Shadab’s 39 scores helped them put 201 total on the scoreboard with all team out in the 48th over.

With such a low score, Haris’ 5 wicket haul saved Pakistan and won him the man of the match trophy as well. Shaheen Afridi’s 2 back to back wickets in the early play and Naseem and Shadab’s deadly spell stopped Afghanistan at the lowest total of only 59 scores.

Second Match Overview:

This match was an interesting show for the viewers and a tough test for both teams. Pakistan’s famous and dangerous bowling attack could not bag any wickets till 39 overs. As a result, Afghanistan was able to collect 300-5 with 151 runs from Rehmanullah Gurbaz.

At first, Babar Azam with his 53 runs, and Imam-ul-Haq with 91 runs led the team smoothly. By the time, Pakistan’s middle order collapsed as usual, only Shadab Khan stayed on the wicket sensibly.

In the last over, Pakistan needed 11 runs on 6 balls with only one wicket in hand. Naseem Shah was on strike, while Shadab Khan impatiently stood on the non-striker end to take a run. This led him to be run out by Farooqi through Mankad, a legal yet unethical move.

This act infuriated the audience and the Pak team even more as in the 2nd last over, the umpire did not give a no-ball to the full toss played by Shadab Khan.

The match got an interesting twist, as it was the same scenario as Asia Cup 2022 where Pakistan needed the same 11 runs of 6 balls. The striker was Naseem Shah and the bowler was Farooqi. History repeated itself and Pakistan won by 2 fours of Naseem Shah.
