Match Preview:

The confident Pakistani team is currently at the top of the Super Four points table after winning its first Super Four match against Bangladesh played at Gadafi Stadium, Lahore on Wednesday.

Pakistan has been undefeatable throughout the Asia Cup 2023 with its lethal pace attack and powerful batting approach.

Earlier in Asia Cup 2023, during the Group match of India vs. Pakistan, Pakistan bowled out 4 leading Indian batters including opening batsman and Captain Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, mighty Virat Kohli, and Iyer only in the first 10 overs. Despite this, India scored a decent total of 266 runs in their first innings.

However, rain spoiled the big cricket show and Pakistan could not bat to showcase their batting prowess against India. Hence, both teams ended up having 1 point for each.

Now, the stage is again set in Colombo to witness this historic India vs. Pakistan clash on  Sunday, 10 September amidst a rain threat. The ACC and PCB reportedly wanted to change the venue to save Grand Clash from rain but no accommodation could be processed to change the venue.

A positive point for cricket enthusiasts is that the match will proceed to 11 September if rain intervenes on Sunday to resume the play from the very point it will have ended on September 10.

Possible playing 11 of India against Pakistan in Super Four:

Kl Rahul joined the team on 7th September for an indoor practice session but surprisingly he was not seen practicing wicketkeeping. Ajrakar, the head of the Indian selection committee called him in ‘good form and shape ahead Pak vs. Ind’.

However, Rahul is called but he has not played any matches since May 2023. So, Can Rahul replace Ishan Kishan, the man in form, who scored 82 runs against Pakistan? Well, we don’t think so. KL Rahul can join the team later but currently, he will have to wait.

So, India is most likely to go with the same playing 11 as in the group-stage match

  • Rohit Sharma (captain)
  • Shubman Gill
  • Ishan Kishan (wk)
  • Virat Kohli
  • Shreyas Iyer
  • Hardik Pandya
  • Ravindra Jadeja
  • Shardul Thakur/Axar Patel
  • Kuldeep Yadav
  • Jasprit Bumrah
  • Mohammed Siraj
